Workshop Costs

Registration Fee

Teachers - Intro and Advanced Tracks:

There is a registration fee of $400 to cover costs that the TwiST sponsors cannot. This fee includes all books and materials used in the workshop, a GPS receiver with a USB connection cable for downloading data to your computer. Lunch is also included each day as well as dinners on selected evenings. Transportation to and from the lodging accommodations is also provided during the workshop.

GIT Ahead:

GIT Ahead teachers will receive a waiver of TwiST Conference registration fee ($400) and be provided meals and housing throughout the week. More details are available at fli.hws.edu/gitahead/.

Students:

There is a registration fee of $300 to cover the cost that TwiST sponsors cannot. This fee includes all materials used in the workshop, a GPS receiver with a USB connection cable for downloading data to a computer. Lunch is also included each day as is transportation for field excursions.

Scholarships

There are a limited number of scholarships available to New York State applicants who come as part of a 3-person team. The team consists of:

  • K-14 teacher
  • 7th-12th grade student
  • and local public official (such as a member of a town board, planning committee, etc or a community volunteer).

The scholarships cover the registration fee, all meals, lodging and 1 year ESRI site license for ArcMap.

The online application must be filled out by all three team members and submitted by prior to the general registration deadline in order to be considered for a scholarship.

Lodging

Participants traditionally stay at a local hotel close to CCC as there is no on-campus housing. The hotel can arrange for participants to share a room if you choose to share a room and have not made arrangements with another attendee. Conference participants are responsible for making their own reservations and paying for the room. Naturally, you may also commute to the conference or choose other accommodations.

Graduate Credit

Conference attendees will be able to earn one graduate credit hour course entitled "Introduction to Geographic Information Technology" from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, NY by attending the entire conference and presenting their project at the end.
