Student Work Cooperative:
Internships for Students
Overview
An internship in IAGT's Work Cooperative Program is a part-time
paid position available to qualified students who seek to supplement
their educational programs with practical work experience.
Interns work side by side with experts who use geospatial technologies
to help solve real world problems. Working under IAGT staff supervision,
interns provide technical support for IAGT's projects and
staff by receiving training in and applying:
- Geographic Information Systems
- Global Positioning System, and
- Remote Sensing Technologies
Qualifications
To be considered for an internship, students must have a basic
understanding of computer applications and have an interest in
geographic information technologies. During the spring and fall
semesters, preference is given to students enrolled in the Geographic
Information Systems (GIS) associate's degree program at
Cayuga Community College. During the summer months, in addition
to Cayuga
student candidates, internships may be awarded to high school through
post-graduate level students seeking to gain practical experience
in applying geographic information technologies.
