Water Resource Management Support Focus Area

The concept of water resource management encompasses a wide variety of topics, but is based on one underlying principle: water is a vital resource for human social, environmental and economic well-being. As demands for this natural resource intensify, due to factors like growing population, increased agricultural and industrial activity and climate change, proper management of water resources is critical.

IAGT encourages an integrated approach to water resource management. This entails a coordinated and collaborative environment, where water management planning and development is based on a participatory process involving users, planners and policymakers at all levels.

IAGT employs a number of custom-developed tools and applications to enable these interested parties to navigate through and around their area of interest, and access and interpret a common set of relevant geospatial information related to water resource management. These shared data and tools promote more effective management and decision-making to maintain and protect this essential resource.
