Environmental Management Tools
SERVIR
SERVIR is a Regional Monitoring and Visualization System (”servir” means “to serve” in Spanish) for Mesoamerica that intensively utilizes satellite imagery and other data sources for environmental management, monitoring, and natural disaster support in the region. SERVIR is being implemented by NASA, CATHALAC, USAID, the World Bank, CCAD, the Environmental Ministries of the Mesoamerican countries, and other partners. Through this project, NASA strives to enable expanded use of Earth science observations and predictive capabilities for managing the important resources of our planet. IAGT’s role in this project is to provide enhanced mapping and 3D visualization capacity in support of SERVIR.
SERVIR Viz, the data visualization and mapping tool developed for SERVIR will assist policy makers, scientists, educators, international organizations, and the general public in better understanding and addressing the complex and dynamic environmental and ecological issues in Mesoamerica. IAGT has also contributed to the SERVIR project by providing extensive GIS and 3D visualization training, developing hardcopy map products, data conversion tools, and custom plugins for SERVIR Viz.
