Interactive Mapper
Quick Start Guide

The following is a list of tools from the Interactive Mapper toolbar that allow users to navigate the Layers:

Navigation Tools
Click or hold down the left mouse button and drag a rectangle to zoom in.
Click or hold down the left mouse button to zoom out.
Pan or move the map view in any direction.
Hold the cursor over the button (in the upper left corner of the Map window) to view the drop down menu of four choices which will zoom the Map window to the extent specified.
Mapping Tools
Enter X,Y coordinates to create a temporary graphic point on the map.
Measure distances in the ES Interactive Mapper interface.
Query/Select Tools
Click on a feature to identify or view its attributes. The identify tool uses "drill-down" functionality so that the attributes for all Layers of the active Layer Service are returned.
Click a feature of a registered hot-linked Layer, to open pictures, html files, etc.
This tool opens a window in the Multi-purpose frame allowing the user to make a selection by querying the active Layer's attributes.
Search the attributes of the active Layer for a case-sensitive string; all features that contain the string and their attributes will be selected.
Drag a rectangle over features that are to be selected.  Features will only be selected on the active Layer.
Select features on the active Layer by drawing a line or polygon.  Features are selected if they intersect the drawn object.
Clear the selection (make no features selected).
Additional Tools
Restart the application.
Refresh the map.  Use this tool after changing visibility of Layers or Layer Services.
Add Data Registered Users Only:
Displays a tree-based list of available external data, allowing the user to add additional data to the map.
Registered Users Only:
Save your mapping sessions, enabling you to return to the application and resume your session exactly as you left it. Contact Technical Support to become a registered user.
Displays the legend for the active Layer in the Layer Frame window.
Hides the legend for the active Layer and reverts back to the Layer list.

 

The following is a list of Layer Service frame tools used for removing, ordering, or changing the visibility of the Layer Services:

Registered Users Only:
Delete a Layer Service.
Move the active Layer Service up one level. Its Layers will then be drawn on top of the Layer Services below.
Move the active Layer Service down one level. Its Layers will then be drawn below the Layer Services above.
X When a red ‘X’ appears adjacent to a Layer Service name, it indicates that Layer Service is not currently operational. This may be due to server unavailability or network latency (a map refresh may solve the problem).
