EarthScope Google Earth Files
The files below are Google Earth KMZ files that represent the network
deployment status for the PBO and USArray portions of the EarthScope
Project (www.earthscope.org)
Click the
icon
to launch the file. The KMZ file is Google Earth’s file format
for displaying user’s overlay data in the Google Earth client.
Google Earth is required to view these files.
USArray:
USArray Stations Self-updating Network Link
Data last update: October 29, 2008
This link points to a web application that returns KML that can be used in Google Earth. The data behind the web application is updated every week and will automatically update in Google Earth so the file only needs to be added to Google Earth once and saved in 'My Places'.
USArray Initial Siting Area KMZ
This link points to a web application that returns KML that can be used in Google Earth. The file shows the initial siting areas which are defined by a 15 km buffer.

How to:
Install Google Earth:
- Download the Google Earth free client (approx. 14Mb) at the following location - earth.google.com.
- Double click the Google Earth installation icon to begin the installation.
- The installation wizard will guide you through the process.
Launch a KMZ file:
- Once Google Earth is installed, click on one of the above links to load the appropriate KMZ file to a Google Earth session.
- If the Google Earth client is previously installed, double clicking or opening the .kmz file will automatically open the Google Earth client and load the overlay data into the “Places” table of contents window in the Google Earth Client.

- To get instructions for establishing a network link, click the following link - www.keyhole.com/GoogleEarthHelp/GoogleEarth.htm.
- Navigate through the following path: Using Places > Sharing Places Data > Sharing Data Over a Network > Creating a Network Link
- The one-page instructions will provide the details on establishing the network link.
