ESRI ArcExplorer
& ArcReader

ArcExplorer is a lightweight GIS data viewer developed by ESRI. This freely available software offers an easy way to perform a variety of basic GIS functions, including display, query, and data retrieval applications.
ArcReader is a free, easy-to-use mapping application that allows users to view, explore, and print maps and globes. (Description from ESRI http://www.esri.com/)

ArcReader 9.1

The links below allow the download of example ArcReader (from ESRI) files and their support data for use in siting for the PBO and USArray portions of the EarthScope Project (www.earthscope.org.) Right click the link to download a self-extracting zip file that contains the ArcReader map and data. Once downloaded, double click the .exe to extract the map and data into the directory of your choosing. ArcReader is required to view these files.

USArray deployment area of interest maps
USArray ArcReader project for Idaho (Version 1 ~78 Mb)

This self-extrating zipfile contains a map and its reference data useful for siting USArray seismic stations in Idaho. The data include: USArray Status (as of November 2005), selected ESRI StreetMap USA 9.1 data layers (streets, boundaries, etc.), statewide geology, results of the suitability analysis and other data layers.

PBO Area of Interest maps
PBO ArcReader project for Augustine (Version 1)-- Coming Soon!

This self-extrating zipfile contains a map and its reference data useful for siting PBO GPS stations. The data include: PBO Status (as of December 2005), selected ESRI StreetMap USA 9.1 data layers (streets, boundaries, etc.), national wildlife areas, and other relevant datasets.

Getting Started with ArcReader
  1. Click here to download ArcReader 9.1(~105 Mb)

  2. Navigate to the pmf directory in the directory where you extracted the ArcReader map and data. (The default directory is C:\Earthscope\USArray\StateInitial\StateInitialReader

  3. Click on the .pmf file in the pmf directory to open the ArcReader map.

Help with ArcReader
An ArcReader tutorial and help are installed with ArcReader 9.1 and can be found in the ArcReader install directory.

Getting Started with ArcExplorer

  1. Click here to download ArcExplorer (various sizes depending on version)

  2. Navigate to the directory where you extracted the ArcExplorer map and data. (The default directory is C:\Earthscope\USArray\StateInitial\StateInitialExplorer

  3. Click on the .aep (or .axl) file to open the ArcExplorermap.

About ArcExplorer Versions
Please choose the appropriate ArcExplorer version to install for your operating system.
