The Institute for the Application of Geospatial Technology (IAGT) is perfectly positioned to provide people and organizations with the guidance and support they require in order to realize the evolving benefits of Geospatial Information Technology (GIT). IAGT can provide specialized GIT solutions using a variety of geospatial products, including: digital maps, geospatial analyses and modeling, 3D interactive applications, and internet web mapping services. IAGT is experienced in all aspects of GIS design and development, including complete project planning and implementation—from database design and creation to network deployment. We appreciate the opportunity to learn more about your specific
project and look forward to discussing how IAGT can help you achieve
success. WHAT WE DO:Image Procurement, Processing and Data AnalysisIAGT provides satellite and aerial image processing services, image data collection planning and procurement, and performs data evaluation, digitizing, mosaicking, conversion, spectral analysis, classification and feature extraction for efficient use of mission critical information. Spatial Analysis and ModelingIAGT combines GIS data layers in various formats, and performs complex spatial queries and modeling to apply to real world issues, such as natural resource and watershed management, viewshed analyses, environmental assessments, transportation studies and map accuracy assessments. Web Application DevelopmentIAGT designs, develops and installs customized web-based solutions incorporating geo-data and analytical tools for GIS web-mapping and network deployable systems. Programming and Application DevelopmentTo meet the unique needs of our clients, IAGT builds distinctive, end-user applications—from the conceptual design phase to application release—tailored to support efficient daily operations and decision making. 3D Visualization and Multi-mediaIAGT creates web-accessible, photo-realistic, interactive 3D environments to navigate, view, analyze and publish the 3D terrain. These interactive environments include a variety of data sources, such as: GIS layers, aerial and satellite imagery, digital elevation models, 2D and 3D objects, animated transportation models, textual/tabular data, labels, hotlinks, and overlays of real time data feeds from remote sensors or Global Positioning System-based devices. Mapping and CartographyIAGT designs and publishes high quality, award-winning thematic maps and delivers them in digital and large format hardcopy. These maps combine timely vector and raster data to clearly illustrate complex geospatial relationships. TrainingIAGT is a certified customer trainer for Skyline Software Systems
Inc. products. We CORE TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
SELECT PROJECT EXPERIENCE:Virtual Management Operations Center (VMOC™)IAGT created a fully interactive, 3D visualization environment comprised of high-resolution digital aerial photography, satellite imagery, and elevation data fused with an integrated 2D geospatial web service. The VMOC™ provides all the analytical capacity of traditional 2D applications, fused with a more intuitive 3D environment that provides access to extensive stores of GIS data across a WAN/LAN to many simultaneous users. The Finger Lakes Decision Support System (FLDSS)IAGT developed tools and processes to better understand and manage the Finger Lakes watersheds. The FLDSS is a watershed management tool comprised of data (spatial and non-spatial, static and near real-time, terrestrial and meteorological), sophisticated models and analyses that are fused into one system to aid in watershed related decision making. The FLDSS utilizes IAGT’s VMOC™ technology to create an interactive decision support tool that can be deployed over a wide area and on a multijurisdictional basis. Oswego County Health Department Well MappingIAGT created a map series showing the locations of public supply water wells in Oswego County, New York, in relation to other relevant data sets, which included USGS Digital Raster Graphics (DRG), New York State Digital Orthorectified Quarter Quadrangles (DOQQ), New York State Civil Boundaries, and New York State Generalized Relief. High risk GIS data layers were created depicting hazardous waste sites and petroleum storage tanks that could be potential risks to the wells. Well proximity maps were also generated by a geographic selection of wells that are within 200 feet of surface water features. Tourism InitiativesFour prototype spatial technology information visualization products were developed by IAGT that are each intended to increase tourism interest and visitation rates in specific geographic regions and points of interest. The products were developed in collaboration with Chambers of Commerce Offices of Tourism using Skyline technology, and focused on Cayuga County, the Finger Lakes Region, the Niagara Falls Region, and Ogdesnburg, New York. Site SelectionIn cooperation with the City of Auburn and Cayuga County Industrial Development Agencies, IAGT developed a prototype of GIT application projects to demonstrate the use of spatial data and 3D interactive visualization technologies to support economic development focusing on business recruitment and facility site selection. The prototype has features applicable to other site selection initiatives. GIT Implementation for the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department (CCSD)IAGT trained the CCSD in Global Positioning System (GPS) technology and assisted in the reporting and mapping of geo-located accident information for hazard assessment purposes. The Lake George Land Cover Map and Accuracy AssessmentIAGT developed a 13-class land cover map for the Lake George Watershed Region of New York State. The resultant map was used by the New York Department of State, Division of Coastal Resources for use in the non-point source watershed pollution model. Both field and computer-based accuracy assessment methods were employed and error-statistics were calculated. Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Forest Fires Imaging Experiment (FIRES)IAGT provided RIT with a suite of prototype data and information products that potential fire detection and monitoring systems might generate, and created derivative, GIS-compatible data and information products that resemble products currently in use today by fire management. Sterling Lakeshore Park and Nature Center ProjectIAGT provided GIS support services to William McDonough & Partners, an internationally recognized architecture and community design firm that focuses on socially and ecologically intelligent (‘green”) design principles, for site development efforts at a 3,000 acre nature center. Elements of the project included research, data collection and assemblage of historical maps, tax maps, topographical maps, digital elevation models (DEM), land surveys, previous feasibility studies, compilation and file format conversion of various GIS layers, and the creation of assorted digital and hardcopy maps, to aid in protection and preservation efforts at the site. Finger Lakes Trail Conference (FLTC) MappingIAGT converted hand drawn trail maps to aesthetically pleasing, accurate, digital form for the FLTC. Maps were comprised of publicly available GIS data, Digital Elevation Models for elevation contour mapping, and Global Positioning System Information. EarthScopeIAGT is currently providing assistance to the national EarthScope program in the form of GIS analyses, siting support, spatial modeling, image processing, web application development, internet mapping and cartographic services. EarthScope is a multi-agency program to apply modern observational, analytical and telecommunications technologies to investigate the structure and evolution of the North American continent, particularly for those physical processes controlling tectonic activity such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Ongoing ProjectsAdditional prototype spatial technology information/visualization
products are at various states of development. These prototypes
are in concert with the application themes articulated by NASA’S
Applied Science Program, including “Disaster Preparedness” and “Water
Management and Conservation” themes. In the ongoing development
of these prototypes, IAGT places particular emphasis on incorporating
mechanisms through which the information/visualization products
can be integrated into a range of decision support systems. IAGT'S SUBSIDIARIESSpatial Logic, LLC:This is the organizational mechanism that will facilitate partnering with various commercial entities.
